Our family's story began nearly 80 years ago, just five years after World War II. My grandfather owned a moving company with his brothers and brother-in-law. As they helped families move, they often took furniture that homeowners no longer wanted. Before long, they had accumulated enough furniture to hold an auction. The auction was a tremendous success. Seeing the opportunity, they partnered with a furniture manufacturer and began holding regular furniture auctions. That simple idea became the foundation of Brothers Furniture.
The business grew quickly. After earning enough money to purchase land, my grandfather and his brothers went to the bank for a loan to build their first furniture store. They didn't have enough money to hire heavy equipment, so they began digging the building's foundation by hand with nothing more than shovels. While they were working, the banker drove by and stopped to ask what they were doing. They explained that they couldn't afford a bulldozer, so they were going to dig the entire foundation themselves. The banker saw their determination and work ethic firsthand. The very next day, their loan was approved—and the rest is history.
Brothers Furniture became a well-known destination in Bailey's Crossroads. Unfortunately, when Fairfax County built the Cloverleaf interchange, traffic to the store was dramatically reduced, and the business eventually closed. Rather than giving up, my father started his own furniture business, determined to carry on the family tradition. In the beginning, we specialized in sleeper sofas, but over the years we expanded our selection and continually raised the quality of the furniture we offered. Today, Warehouse Showrooms features some of the finest American-made furniture available, with an emphasis on solid wood craftsmanship built to last for generations.
