Identifying Quality Furniture

Posted on March 8th, 2019 by warehouseshowrooms

At Warehouse Showrooms, we live by a simple philosophy. The furniture in your home is not simply another possession: instead, it represents the core of who you are and how you present yourself to the world. We have always relied on the best American craftsmen available (the Amish) to build our furniture. Our furniture will last for generations. Below are the factors that make furniture last.

The Wood

Our furniture builders use solid kiln-dried wood in the manufacturing process of all their goods. There is no particle board, no fiberboard, LDF, MDF (low and or medium-density fiberboard), or other “man-made wood” used in the building of our furniture. No overseas or rainforest trees are used either since America is home to high-quality hardwoods that are great for furniture manufacturing. Many of our builders replant trees as well. Lately, some impressive reclaimed wood from barns has been added to our lineup. The majority of our furniture is made by Amish craftsmen. Be secure knowing our furniture has none of the aromatic hydrocarbon off-gassing problems that imported “fake wood” furniture can have. In fact, our solid wood furniture has a subtle and pleasant natural wood aroma.  Modern sharp-cutting edges have made precision cuts easier and more reliable as well.

 The Adhesives

Our craftsmen are using today’s latest glues that are much stronger than in the past. Our furniture builders are mostly Amish, which means every time the furniture is built to higher standards, essentially built to last generations. Today’s adhesives will last generations longer than glues from even 40 years ago. Built to hold up to today’s more mobile households and more frequent physical moves, our quality holds up to these uses.

The Joinery

All of our wood tops use extra inserted wood “biscuits” and/or dowels to add strength and longevity to each item. This allows extra surface area for each board when joining them together and improves the overall stability of each surface against warping stresses. All Drawers use dovetails, which are physically interlocking joints that have interleaving trapezoidal shaped pins that increase tensile strength. tremendously. All of our doors use mortise and tenon joints which look good and add strength as well.

The Finishes

Today’s catalyzed finishes are optimized for spill resistance. Be secure knowing the solid hardwood furniture you purchased here has cross-linked polymer chain finishes that are stronger than other finishes on the market.

The Hardware

Every drawer in the showroom uses modern steel ball-bearing drawer glides. These are vastly superior to the wood slides used the last hundreds of years. The smoothness gives each drawer a more solid satisfying action and is not likely to ever break or squeak. American-made screws and hinges, handles and knobs are used.

So the checklist is : Solid American Hardwoods, the latest glues, superior joinery, super strong finishes, and the hardware.  Remember, Quality furniture has never been built as well as it is today.
